Trinity

Something says, “You must!”---you’re not sure what
But the feeling comes straight from your gut;
The Father of our progression, instinct.
The number one reason we are not extinct.

Something else says, “I have a Spirit (or Soul)”.
In my heart I feel warmth.  Guide to eternal goal.
Now, the heart and the gut should be clear, but instead
They’re confused, tangled up in emotional thread.

And the need of a Savior – a Judge, if you will
Is born of such conflict, innocent of all ill.
This Mediator is the conscious mind.
It allows us to pause, fast-forward and rewind

So we can understand that although we are flawed
We can learn, build ourselves, and add strength to the God
That is in all of us. And if life were a song
We’d all sing our own measure of what’s “right” and what’s “wrong”

No, we wouldn’t attempt someone Else's part
And we each would find peace with our gut mind and heart.
Then with all the earth singing true to their Trinity
I am sure we would find beautiful harmony.

The Fall

It's true my heart's betrayed me much before;
Led me down paths so dark and filled with pain.
Yet that's the only way I can be more
And truly understand all that I gain.
But when in deepest dark and gravest night
It's hard to see there clearly is an end.
The focus shifts to all that wrong, not right.
My suffering becomes my only friend.
When dawn was nearly here, and light returned
My eyes were closed, my head held down in shame.
A tear rolled down my cheek and there it burned
But then I heard you softly say my name.
I hope that what my heart now says is true
And I can rest in light and love with you.

I wrote this sonnet a few years back.  I just thought I'd share.  :)

The Lie in the Sky

It seems that faith is just a trap
set up by a manipulative God.
He wants you to not know, just trust
He isn't the worlds oldest fraud.

But was it really God who said,
"Believe in me, lest ye shall die"?
Or was a clever man instead
the author of this tricky lie?

If He is up there looking down
I doubt that He'd leave such a hole
that man could puppeteer His mouth
to gain fame, fortune and control.

I think that if God does exist
it's not HE that's a man - it's we
that are these rumored Deities
and once we know this we are free!

We're free to feel and free to think
free to question wrong and right
and then we'll know that each man's life's
a different shade of the same light.

What's wrong with Mormons?

Well it started out with Joe Smith, and the women to whom he said,
“There’s an angel with a flaming sword threatening to take my head
If you don’t agree to marry me….and accompany me to bed!”
(a good few of them only teens, and many others already wed)

Polygamy was a Mormon doctrine since 1831
Though denied by all who practiced it or the church would be undone!
What of the women who said no?  They were forced, not to walk, but run,
And publicly called whores and worse by Joe and Brigham Young.

Let’s move along, forward in time to 1978
When Afro Americans had long since had their rights and Mormons held to hate.
But President Kimball caved.  So what happened to Young’s prophecy of late
That said blacks will NEVER hold priesthood?  Turns out it was a fake…

In 30 more years ask a Mormon “What the hell was that about?”
And I’m sure they’ll smile sweetly and brainlessly they’ll tout
“The prophecy just said “worthy males”!”, and toss the issue out.
They’ll forget about such bigotry.  Their church is true, they have no doubt.

Now it seems they have gotten away with a few ‘isms’ to date
So why not tell homosexuals they’re wrong? (a current hot debate)
Then they’ll claim that it was said with love, and not an ounce of hate!
Though it’s sure to drive many a teen to an untimely fate.

BUT once a hundred years go by – if the church is still quite strong
None with vivid emotional memory will know all that went wrong
Just as those women and the ‘blacks’ – the ‘gays’ will have no one to sing their song.
People will continue to flock to Mormonism, a massive, successful con.
